Introduction to DRL

At DRL our aim is to provide voltage regulators of superior design to improve charging systems of many varieties of dynamo equipped motorcycle. Modern electronics can greatly enhance the performance and reliability compared with original electromechanical regulators. When the commonly weak charging on classic bikes has been greatly improved there are plenty of challenges remain to provide enjoyable fettling!

Business Description

Our focus is on high performance replacement electronic dynamo regulators for controlling the output of classic motorcycle dynamos (d.c. generators). We pride ourselves on being prime innovators in electronic dynamo regulator design (since 2007).The various types we have developed are suited to many different motorcycle, car, boat, tractor, generator sets . . . (you name it!), wherever there are dynamo powered electrics. We view product development as a continuing process. There is always room for improvement, even with regards to small details. As such constructive feedback on your experiences using our products is welcomed.

Since about mid 2019 we are concentrating on the DVR2 motorcycle regulators. The design, manufacturing and marketing of the DVR3 & 4 regulators are now exclusively with Electro Dynamic Solutions. Visit their website dynamoregulator.com for more details (same as our address except no 's' ).

Dynamo Regulators Ltd undertakes all electronic research, design and development, as well as all other aspects of product design, engineering and quality control. Achieving all this 'in house' enables us to be very responsive and keeps costs low. In this DRL is unique among regulator suppliers in the UK. All DRL regulator products are manufactured in the UK. Local sub-contractors are used to facilitate communication. Every regulator is tested thoroughly prior to dispatch. Be confident purchasing from the experts with in depth expertise in this specialist field. We don't just sell regulator 'units', we take pride in our products and know them from the individual component level up.

Please understand that we are not always able to give detailed advice for on a regulator to suit motorcycles of all makes, models and years (we hope that sounds reasonable). Ultimately it has to be down to the purchaser to select the correct earth polarity and voltage to suit their (perhaps rare Vintage or Classic) bike. Most marques will have their experts with all the information to hand, or at least with access to all the handbooks. Such information is often accessible on-line with a little searching. We can't and won't do all the leg work; that time is not factored into our pricing! We will of course offer assistance with relevant charging system technical and application information wherever we are able.

Delivery Information

We strive to make our regulator products available from stock. Orders are usually dispatched within one working day (Monday-Friday) of receiving payment. We are occasionally away from the business on holiday or whatever; naturally this will cause additional delays. Sorry!

We normally use Royal Mail first class postage. At our discretion we use the 'Signed For' service. Please see prices or product pages for the available postage options, split into UK, European and Rest of World options. Higher value orders will be sent using a tracked and/or signed service. If you require a tracked service on an order below about £100 please contact us to arrange this (for example if you consider local postal service to be unreliable).

Returns & Refunds

All Dynamo Regulators Ltd products are manufactured to the highest quality standards. They are guaranteed against manufacturing defects or faults developing in normal use for one year from date of receipt. Our guarantee does not cover damage arising as a result of incorrect installation. Please read the product descriptions and data-sheets carefully before fitting. If in doubt employ the services of a qualified auto-electrician, or other competent person.

All products are new and fully tested prior to dispatch. In the event of any problem with a product please contact us before returning the item. We reserve the right to charge a £10 testing and return post fee (UK Royal Mail 1st class post) for items which are found to be working correctly. It is a fact that the majority of regulators returned for testing prove to be working correctly, and the problem is to be found elsewhere in the charging system.

If you have purchased an item in error it should be returned in as received condition for refund within 14 days of purchase. Customer to pay their return postage costs and the refund paid may be subject to a 10% handling charge.

Privacy Policy

Customer order details, names and addresses may be recorded in secure electronic form for customer support and financial record purposes. On request we will advise customers of any personal information in our records, and remove it if asked to do so.

No bank account or other financial details will be held in our files. We do not have sight of any card details entered by purchasers during the website check out process. Card details provided over the telephone are entered into the service providers system and are not stored on our system. No customer information will be supplied to or shared with any third party in any form.
